The food economy, at a glance
Every Pokopia meal breaks down into the same three supply chains: crops you grow yourself, berries from trees, and gathered wild goods (fish, mushrooms, honey). Chef Dente takes care of the cooking; your job is to keep the larder full.
This guide covers each chain in turn, with the biome you want, the Pokémon specialty to pair, and the handful of gotchas that bite new restorers.
Berries & berry trees
Five berry trees cover every flavor. You grow them from seeds dropped when you chop a tree (any tree — the seeds are random). Trees grow in any biome as long as the tile is hydrated, and mature trees regrow berries roughly once per in-game day.
| Berry | Flavor | Best biome | Used in |
|---|---|---|---|
| Leppa | Sweet | Withered Wasteland | Leppa Salad, Leppa Bread, Berry Chair, Ditto Flag |
| Chesto | Dry | Withered Wasteland | Crushed-berry Salad, Berry Basket |
| Pecha | Sweet | Withered Wasteland | Fluffy Bread, Berry Bed |
| Rawst | Bitter | Bleak Beach | Bitter Hamburger Steak |
| Aspear | Sour | Rocky Ridges | Flavorful Soup, Berry Table |
| Lum | Bitter | Any | Bitter Hamburger Steak, Berry Wall Decoration |
Vegetables & crop seeds
Four vegetables matter for Chef Dente's recipes: Beans, Tomatoes, Potatoes, and Wheat. Each grows through four stages (seed → sprout → blooming → ripe) at roughly one stage per in-game day, but only if the tile is hydrated.
- Beans unlock during the Rocky Ridges story when you rescue Chef Dente. They're the base for every Hamburger Steak.
- Tomatoes unlock mid-way through Rocky Ridges. Sour flavor, used in Tomato Hamburger Steak.
- Potatoes are a late-Rocky-Ridges unlock. The single best ingredient for Rock-Smash upgrades.
- Wheat unlocks with the Bread Oven. It's the backbone of every Bread recipe.
- Fresh Carrot is the oddball — it grows from its own seed and is required for Carrot Bread.
Keep a Sprinkler near every plot. Without it, growth pauses on any day you forget to water manually. Or rely on a Water specialty Pokémon (Squirtle line, Wingull, Marill, Azumarill) living in an adjacent Aquatic habitat — they irrigate automatically.
Fishing spots by biome
Fishing Spot habitats work as both ingredient farms and Pokémon attractors. Each variant needs a Fishing Rod, a Seat, and a specific water type:
- Fishing Pond — any regular water. Attracts Slowpoke, Slowbro, and Slowking. Drops Seaweed, Fresh Water, and common fish.
- Ocean Fishing Spot — Bleak Beach saltwater. Drops the best Seaweed supply in the game plus Seashells and occasional Sea Glass.
- Marsh Fishing Spot — needs Muddy Water (Withered Wasteland swamps). Attracts Grimer, Muk, Clodsire — Clodsire is a Bulldoze specialist, so double-duty.
For pure ingredient farming, park an Ocean Fishing Spot at Bleak Beach next to a Community Box. Seaweed passively accumulates while you play elsewhere, and Seaweed Soup plus Seaweed Salad cover both Water Gun and Leafage upgrades.
Foraging Pokémon (Gather)
The Gather specialty is the foraging engine. Place a Community Box in a habitat with a Gather partner and they will bring back anything on the ground nearby — fallen leaves, sticks, berries that dropped from trees, mushrooms, flowers.
Strong Gather partners for food farming:
- Drifblim, Drifloon — float long distances, ideal for sweeping an entire biome.
- Minccino, Cinccino — fast and neat; Cinccino also has Recycle, a strong dual-purpose pick.
- Mime Jr., Mr. Mime — Gather plus Hype, so useful in Rocky Ridges.
- Dreepy, Drakloak, Dragapult — premier late-game Gatherers with long range.
Mushrooms & cave forage
Cave Mushrooms are the main wild forage outside of berries and seaweed. They spawn in every cavern, but Rocky Ridges tunnels are by far the richest. A Search partner (Zubat line, Drilbur) running a Dowsing Machine will surface hidden clusters you can't see by eye. Glowing Mushrooms are a rarer cave variant that appears only at night inside deeper caverns.
Honey from Combee & Vespiquen
Honey comes from two sources: sparkling flower beds in the overworld, and the Gather Honey specialty, which only Vespiquen has in Pokopia. Build a Garden habitat with a Honey Pot fixture, attract Combee, then wait for a Combee to evolve into Vespiquen (or befriend one in Sparkling Skylands).
Vespiquen exchanges stored Honey for Patterned Furniture pieces at the Honey Shop. Honey itself is also a dye ingredient and occasional crafting component.
Wild herbs, water & oddities
- Leaf — cut tall grass, moss, or vines. Venusaur also drops Leaf via its Litter specialty. No biome shortage.
- Fresh Water — scoop from any clean water tile. Stockpiles fast. Rainy weather in Withered Wasteland refills puddles for free.
- Roserade Tea — a Tea Set ingredient. Befriend Roserade in a Garden habitat; it produces one Roserade Tea per day.
- Wildflowers — picked by hand or by a Gather partner. Used heavily in Vase and Extravagant Flowers crafting recipes.
A suggested daily food loop
- Morning — harvest ripe crops in Withered Wasteland (Beans, Wheat, Tomato). Top up Sprinklers if any tile looks dry.
- Day — sweep berry orchards in every biome. Swing by Bleak Beach to empty the Ocean Fishing Spot's Community Box.
- Evening — drop ingredients at Chef Dente; cook one meal per flavor type so you've got something to feed every Pokémon preference.
- Night — raid Rocky Ridges caves for Cave Mushrooms and Glowing Mushrooms. Night is also when Combee stop foraging — collect from the Honey Pot before bed.
