Two systems, not one
Every Pokémon has both a friendship level (with Ditto) and a Comfort Level(about its habitat and surroundings). They’re separate numbers but they feed each other: friendship progresses faster when a Pokémon is comfortable, and Comfort Level rises faster when the Pokémon considers you a friend.
Friendship
Friendship increases when you:
- Complete a request the Pokémon asks you to do.
- Give them an item (especially one matching their Favourites).
- Play a game with them — they’ll propose quizzes or “Look This Way.”
- Simply spend time near them in a habitat they like.
As friendship grows, Pokémon start seeking you out, dropping off gift materials, and eventually calling you by your chosen name instead of “Ditto.”
The five Comfort Levels
| Tier | What it feels like |
|---|---|
| Awesome | Highest possible. Pokémon is thriving and will attract other Pokémon nearby. |
| Great | Very happy. Gives gifts regularly and powers the biome’s Environment Level quickly. |
| Nice | Comfortable. The default target once you’ve built a matching habitat. |
| Average | Neutral. Pokémon lives in the area but isn’t notably happy. |
| Iffy | Struggling. Check for missing food, wrong habitat type, or unwanted items nearby. |
Best Friends
At maximum friendship, a Pokémon will come to you and announce you’re its best friend. Its Pokédex entry gets a special mark and it will always be happy to see you. This is the ultimate bond milestone per species — useful for 100% completion.
How to raise Comfort Level quickly
- Upgrade the habitat’s centerpiece (see the Environment Levels guide).
- Decorate with items from the Pokémon’s Favourites list.
- Keep foods in their preferred flavour in easy reach.
- Remove items the Pokémon dislikes from the area.
- House them in a built house rather than a bare habitat — houses raise Comfort Level faster than habitat-only setups.
