Team Initiation Challenge

A peculiar building on the coast of the Withered Wasteland wants to recruit you for “Team R.” Here’s every requirement and reward, and what happens when you finish.

Endgame spoilers

The Team Initiation Challenge unlocks after Mewtwo points Ditto at a suspicious building in the Wasteland. The finale is a major story reveal — skip the bottom section if you’re still working through the challenge.

The “building” holds a machine that issues one challenge at a time. Each challenge asks for a specific set of items — many of them endgame materials you’ll only have after the main story — and hands back a replica Gym Badge.

The machine can only run one challenge at a time. You can gather everything in advance, but you’ll submit in order.

Finale

Once all nine challenges are complete, the building starts to shake. It turns out the whole structure is a rocket — according to journal entries scattered across the Wasteland, built by Team Rocketseparately from humanity’s main evacuation.

The rocket launches into deep space. Afterwards, you can explore a special hideout underneath the launch area for post-game content.
