Available from the start of the game — he greets you in the opening cutscene.
Quest walkthrough
Watch the opening cutscene. Professor Tangrowth approaches Ditto and explains Kanto’s withered state.
Accept the first Important Request (“Yawn Up a Storm”). He joins your team permanently from this point on.
Talk to him any time you need a hint about the current Important Request, a reminder about game mechanics, or to appraise a relic you dug up.
What you unlock
- Permanent Appraise specialty — turn unidentified relics into catalogued items.
- Running hint system — he flags the next objective whenever you’re stuck.
